Cure the Average Illness with Natural Health

There are plenty of alternatives to pill popping when you feel the flu setting in. With the right preventative measures you can usually avoid getting sick altogether. Every once in a while, in spite of your bets efforts those germs get in anyway and leave you feeling like you just got ran over with a truck. You might think that it is a good idea to simply drug yourself into a stupor in the hopes of making your flu symptoms go away but this is a terrible idea. It seems like a good idea, but there are so many better options to help you cure your cold. If you are looking for something to help ease your cold and flu symptoms and to, hopefully, cure your cold completely there are plenty of natural options available. Here are natural remedies you can try.

More Water

Start with water. Water is more than something to drink-while we all know that it is essential to our survival, it is more than just a liquid. Drinking water is one of the best remedies for a headache-certainly better than an over the counter pain reliever. Many headache sufferers do not know that they are dehydrated. Instead of waiting a long time for the drugs to take effect, drinking a glass of water will help you feel better in just a few minutes. In addition to keeping you hydrated you can use water for other things. Breaking fevers is usually done by having someone sit in a hot bath with a cool compress on their heads. The hot water helps to relax the muscles and induce sweating. You want to sweat when you have a fever because it is how your fever will be brought down by your body.

Citrus

Oranges and orange juice aren’t your only sources of vitamin C! Those leafy greens you usually pass up are also great sources of Vitamin C! If you feel yourself starting to get sick, aim for the green and leafy as well as the orange and round. You can also find vitamin C in other citrus fruits like limes and lemons.

You can also get a ton of vitamin C from bell peppers so it is a good idea to start adding them to your favorite foods. Fighting off illness is easier when you infuse your food with vitamin C-and your food will taste better as well!

Ginseng

Ginseng is a great natural health remedy. Ginseng is pretty easy to come by too–you can buy ginseng tea (both hot and iced) and it is usually easy to find in the herbal supplements section of your store.

You should not wait until you are sick to fill your home with ginseng; filling your home ahead of time means that you will be prepared and might even be able to fight off the infection entirely. Hot ginseng tea is best when you are feeling under the weather. Ginseng will help boost your immune system so that it can beat back the flu and the hot water in the tea will help relax your throat and sinuses and give you some immediate physical relief.

The size of the variety of natural health methods for curing an illness is staggering. You probably already have a bunch of great natural illness cures in your house and you just don’t know it! Some people believe that natural health works faster than using medication to cure an illness. Why not give it a try-your body will thank you for it!
